Itinerary : 6 days in Morocco itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley.
Pick up at 8:00 am at the hotel or Riad where you are staying in Marrakech. Departure to the High Atlas crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass. We will continue to the south, where we later turn off on a 6 km track that will take us to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddoud where we can visit its Kasbah, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In this spectacular setting have been filmed films as renowned as Gladiator or the Jewel of the Nile … Lunch in the village. Then continue to Ouarzazate, considered “the great gateway to the desert” and where highlights the Kasbah of Taourirt. We continue towards the Valley of the Roses, passing through the great palm grove of Skoura and Boumalne. We will turn off at Boumalne de Dadès, to enjoy the “monkey fingers”, a rocky landscape known as “the brain of the Atlas”. We will then arrive at our destination. Dinner and overnight in the Dadès Valley.
Day 2: Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga.
After breakfast, we will visit the spectacular Dades Gorges, enjoying the spectacular scenery that offers us the way to them. We will return to drive along a road dotted with Kasbah all of them different. We will arrive at one of the strong points of the South, the Todra Gorges.
The Todra River has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions, up to 200m high, and of great beauty. It is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. Free lunch.
Then we will continue to the desert through the palm grove of Tafilalet and through Erfoud to reach the impressive dunes of Merzouga. Arrival at the hotel located at the foot of the dunes, where we will have a tea of hospitality while resting a little. Then you can walk along the fine sand of Erg Chebbi, relax and enjoy this breathtaking scenery. In the evening, you will taste a delicious Berber dish. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Merzouga -Tour of the Erg Chebbi by 4x4 - night in the desert.
After a hearty Moroccan breakfast, we will get into the 4×4 to drive away from Merzouga and start our tour around the Erg Chebbi dunes, a region of the desert populated by sand. Among the many stops that await us, we will discover how and where the nomadic families of the area live, wild oasis in the middle of nowhere, spectacular landscapes, small desert villages, palm groves ….
Inevitable stop on our way through the village of Khamlia, of people originally from Mali, who will make us enjoy a nice concert of Gnawa music, while we savor a delicious tea. On the way back to the hotel, our camels will be waiting for us to take us to the foot of the Great Dune of the Erg Chebbi desert. During the ride, about an hour and a half, we can observe the beautiful sunset, the contrast of colors and enjoy the calm of the dunes.
We will arrive at the camp. We will taste an authentic Berber dinner and enjoy the music of the drums. We will sleep in a nomad tent in the heart of the desert under the spectacular immense sky full of stars.
Day 4: Merzouga - Rissani - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Middle Atlas - Fez.
We will wake up early in the morning to enjoy the spectacular sunrise in the dunes. Then we will return to Merzouga with the camels watching the spectacular scenery. After breakfast and a shower at the hotel, we will start our way.
We will head to Rissani, where we will stroll through what is known as the most authentic and traditional souk in Morocco, and the largest in the south of the country, where all kinds of handicrafts, food and animals are traded.
We continue towards Erfoud, the ancient gateway to the desert, a city famous for the work of fossils, crossing the impressive Ziz Valley, with its more than 18,000 palm trees, until we reach Midelt. Stop for lunch.
Continue the road to Fez passing through Ifrane, also known as the Moroccan Switzerland for the aesthetics of its buildings. Arrival in Fez. Dinner and overnight in Fez.
Day 5: Fez - Fez.
Free day in Fez to visit the city considered the religious and cultural center of the country. Its university, famous for the study of Arabic and the Muslim religion, is a point of passage for many Moroccan students.
You will have time to walk around and get to know its different neighborhoods, the new area or Fès el-Jdid, where you will find the Mellah (the Jewish quarter), the Ville Nouvelle (New Town), French area in the northeast of the city and of course, Fez el-Bali, the old area, inside the walls.
You can stroll through its streets and feel how it transports you to past worlds in which potters, smiths, craftsmen and donkeys loaded with goods from various origins coexist with tourists who pass through its labyrinthine streets.
Also famous for the souk of the tanners, you can be part of the craft process of medieval roots, through which they get to give those bright colors to the leather. Overnight in Riad.
Day 6: Fez - Marrakech.
After breakfast, departure to Marrakech, crossing the many valleys that make up the Middle Atlas: Ifrane, Azrou, Khenifra, Beni Mellal ….
Stop for lunch on the way. We will continue our way until we arrive in Marrakech.
Transfer to your riad, and we encourage you to continue discovering the corners of this city end of trip 6 days marrakech.
