We went to the red city and were free to spend the day exploring the famous red city of Marrakech, visiting the immense souk, and immersing ourselves in the lively Djemaa el Fna square in the old town. Let yourself be seduced by the dancers, snake charmers, jugglers, storytellers, and singers. Drink orange juice in front of the numerous workshops.
After breakfast, departure to cross the High Atlas Tizi Ntichka (2,260 m high) and then turn off at Telouet to visit the Kasbah, Berber villages on the way to the fortified city of Aït Ben Haddou, where many famous films have been shot, including Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, etc. Time for lunch in the village and continue to Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, visit the city of Ouarzazate, considered the gateway to the great desert and the starting point for great journeys, highlighting Kasbah Taourirt and the Main Palace of Glaoui, Pasha of the great southern kingdom of the country. Continue to the Valley of Roses, passing through Skoura and Boumalne, until reaching the Dades Gorges for dinner and evening activities.
We set off on a road dotted with Kasbahs, each one different from the last. After several stops, we arrive at one of the highlights of the southern region: the Todra Gorge. The Todra River Gorge has formed a vertical canyon of enormous proportions with high walls, making it a paradise for climbers and a unique lunch spot. We continue south and then to the desert of the impressive dunes of Merzouga, with free time to climb the dunes and enjoy the sunset. After dinner, we will enjoy a dramatic Berber drum performance. Accommodation in a hostel.
Breakfast. We took a tour of the Erg Chebbi desert sand dunes, where the Great Dune of the United Kingdom, over 250 meters high, is connected by a track followed by the Paris-Dakar train, with the mountains bordering Algeria in the background. Stop at the oasis of TISSARDMINE and continue to a nomadic settlement where we will learn some secrets of their life and customs. After stopping at a viewpoint where you can admire the Erg Chebbi as a whole. Stop at Khamlia, the indigenous villages of Mali, where you can relax with a cup of tea while enjoying a small concert of Gnawa music. Return to the lodge, lunch, and set off on camelback for an hour and a half ride that will take us to the foot of the Great Dune, enveloped by the beautiful desert sunset. Night in a tent in the heart of the desert under a spectacular starry sky.
We wake up to watch the sunrise before dawn. Return to the lodge. Shower, breakfast, and departure for Rissani, where we discover the desert region, its isolated oases, and the black desert. Visit the TIC Risani palm grove with its ancient kasbahs. In the afternoon, return to Merzouga to enjoy the desert. Relaxed dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
After breakfast, we set off across the desert and headed north through the Ziz Valley, stopping at the cold blue spring of Meski where we could relax. We planned to stop for lunch in Midelt and then continue on to Ifrane (Moroccan Switzerland) where we stayed at a riad in the medina of Fez.
You will enjoy a guided tour to discover the medina and the famous souks of Fez—its narrow, cobbled streets are lined with ancient mosques and towering minarets with green glazed tiles. You can visit the most beautiful palaces and monuments in Fez. The tour includes a visit to the tanners’ and potters’ cooperatives to see traditional Moroccan crafts.
Free day to explore the royal city of Fez with its many madrasas, tanneries, and famous medina. Departure for Meknes, visit to the imperial city with its famous gate, Bab El Mansour, the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the Agdal basin. Option to discover the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, located about thirty kilometers from Meknes, and the holy city of Moulay Idriss, a center of pilgrimage for Moroccans. Dinner and overnight stay in Meknes.
